Microsoft Outlook Express
To create a new Outlook Express account:

1. Open Outlook Express.

2. Click on the Tools menu, which is the fourth menu item from the left at the top of the window. Select Accounts from this menu. The Internet Accounts window should subsequently appear.

3. Click on the Mail tab which is the second tab from the left at the top of the Internet Accounts window. You should see a large white box that contains the list of mail accounts

4.Click on your "default" mail account and then click on the properties button on the right. Go to the servers tab and "copy and paste" your outgoing mail. If you cannot copy and paste then write this address or number down (you will need this later). Close this window.

5. Back in the "Mail view", to your right click on the "Add button". A submenu should appear from which you should select Mail, which is the first item from the top. An Internet Connection Wizard window should appear.

6. The first window is labelled Your Name. Type the name you would like it to appear on your emails into the field that says Display name ie: your company name. After doing this click on the Next button, which is located at the bottom of the window. The Wizard should proceed to it's next window which is marked Internet Email Address.

7. In the Internet Email Address window select I already have an email account that I would like to use. Then type your email address in the field. Spec-Net Pty Ltd will issue this email address. If the correct email address is already in this field leave it. After doing this click on the Next button which is located at the bottom of the window. The Wizard should proceed to it's next window which is marked Email Server Names.

8. There is a drop down menu up the top of this window next to where it says My incoming mail server is a. Select POP3 from the drop down list if it is not already selected. In the Incoming Mail field type mail.buildingindex.com
In the Outgoing Mail field right click and click paste (or type the address or number you wrote down in step 4). After doing this click on the Next button, which is located at the bottom of the window. The Wizard should proceed to it's next window, which is marked Internet Mail Logon.

9. In the Internet Mail Logon window enter your username in the Account name field. Do not enter your email address in this field. Enter your password in the Password field. Your username and password will be issued to you by Spec-Net Pty Ltd. Leave the tick in the box next to where it says Remember Password, but DO NOT put a tick in the box next to where it say "Log in using secure password authentication (SPA)".

After doing this click on the Next button which is located at the bottom of the window. The Wizard should proceed to it's next window, which is marked Congratulations.

10. Read the congratulatory message in this window and feel proud of your achievement before clicking on the Finish button at the bottom of the window. The Internet Connection Wizard should disappear and return you to the Mail tab of the Internet Accounts window.

11. The mail account that you have just made should appear in the big white box in this view. Click on the Close button, which is located in the bottom left hand corner of the Internet Accounts Window. The Internet Accounts window should disappear and return you to the Outlook Express main window.

12. Close Outlook Express and then reopen and your email configuration should be ready to go!

NOTES:
- If you are not using email accounts supplied by us, then please refer to your email service provider for configuration assistance.

- If you have problems setting up your email, please ensure you have followed the above steps carefully, and have not deviated from the above default configurations.

- Are you using virus scanning software (eg. McAfee Virusscan or Norton Antivirus)? If you are having problems accessing your email but everyone else’s email seems to be working fine, and you are using a virus scanning package to protect your email:

a) Try disabling the virus scanner and attempt to retrieve your mail.

b) Re-enter your original email settings by following the instructions for your email software above, then attempt to retrieve your mail.

c) Save any documents or files you may be working on, and reboot your computer. Once your system has restarted, open your email software and attempt to retrieve your mail.

d) Wait for 15 minutes and attempt to retrieve your mail again, we may be experiencing a technical difficulty.

Microsoft Outlook 2003


1. Open Outlook 2003 and select Tools from the menu options at the top of your screen.

Then select "Email Accounts".

2. The Email Accounts wizard should appear. Check the "Add a new e-mail account" radio button and click "Next >".

3. For the Server Type, check the "POP3" radio button and click "Next >".

4. You now need to fill in your personal details and the details of your account.

Under the User Information heading, enter your Name and full Email Address.

5. Under the Login Information heading, enter the username and password you were supplied by Spec-Net Pty Ltd.

6. Tick the "Remember Password" option. Make sure "Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" is unticked.

7. Under the Login Information heading, enter the Incoming and Outgoing mail servers. The incoming (POP3) mail server is mail.buildingindex.com and the outgoing (SMTP) mail server is your ISP's mail server. You will need to contact your ISP for the address of their server.

8. Click "Next >" and then click "Finish" to close the wizard.

NOTES:
- If you are not using email accounts supplied by us, then please refer to your email service provider for configuration assistance.

- If you have problems setting up your email, please ensure you have followed the above steps carefully, and have not deviated from the above default configurations.

Microsoft Outlook 98/2000/XP

When you open Microsoft Outlook for the first time you will get a welcome message screen. Choose Set up an e-mail service, then follow these steps.

1. Select Tools from the menu options at the top of your screen.

Then select Services.

2. You must have Internet Mail installed in this window.

3. If you do not find Internet Mail listed under Services then you will have to add it. Select Add then Click on Internet Mail.

4. This will open the properties of Internet Mail automatically.

5. If you already have Internet Mail service installed then just select Properties.

6. Assign the Mail Account a name.

7. Fill in the Name and Organisation.

8. Enter your Email Address Eg.username@yourdomain that has been issued to you by Spec-Net Pty Ltd.

9. Enter your Email Address as your Reply Address.

10. Select the Server tag at the top of the window.

11. Enter the Incoming and Outgoing mail servers. The incoming (POP3) mail server is mail.buildingindex.com and the outgoing (SMTP) mail server is your ISP's mail server. You will need to contact your ISP for the address of their server.

14. Check the Remember Password option and enter your username and password.

15. Exit Microsoft Outlook through the option Exit and Log Off which is found under Files on the main menu.

16. When you re-enter Microsoft Outlook you will be ready to do e-mail!

Netscape Mail & Communicator Messenger

When you open Netscape Messenger for the first time a New Profile Setup will be initiated. Enter the following details:

1. Enter Your Name or the name you wish to be displayed in the e-mail message. Your e-mail address will be in the following layout: username@yourdomain.com.au, this will be issued to you by Spec-Net Pty Ltd.

2. Select Next.

3. Enter Profile. The profile is the name with which you use to define which e-mail account is currently operative. Use the default supplied.

4. Select Next.

5. Confirm the name you wish to use and that your e-mail address is set correctly.

6. Select Next.

7. Enter your username as the Mail server username. Enter the Incoming Mail server. This will be mail.buildingindex.com Enter the Outgoing Mail server as your ISP's mail server. You will need to contact your ISP for the address of their server.

8. Select Next.

9. Enter nothing for the News (NNTP) Server.

10. Select Finish.

Netscape Communicator (V.6 and Above)

To setup Netscape for your email account please follow the below guide:

1. Open Netscape Communicator

2. Click on the Tasks tab

3. In the dropdown menu select Mail

4. This will open Your Netscape Inbox

5. Click on the Edit tab

6. Select Mail/News Account settings

7. Click the New account button

8. Select ISP or Email Provider

9. Click Next

10. Enter your name and email address as requested, in the following format: username@yourdomain.com.au, this will be issued by Spec-Net Pty Ltd.

11. These should be included in your account details

12. Click Next

13. Type the incoming server (POP3) as mail.buildingindex.com and the outgoing server (SMTP) as your ISP's mail server. You will need to contact your ISP for the address of their server.

14. Click Next

15. Username will be automatic so click Next again

16. You may type anything for your account name

17. Click Next and then Finish

18. On the Right hand side you will see a list

19. Click on Outgoing Server

20. On the right make sure that you have a tick in use name and password

21. Below this check the box when available

Close Netscape Communicator and Inbox, Re-open and your email account is ready to go!
