An Australian company has launched a new industrial sound-proofing
material that can reduce noise levels in the workplace by up to 70 per cent. Barrierboard,
an Australian-made patented plasterboard composite product, is a revolutionary
soundproofing product ideal for commercial and industrial sites.
Barrierboard is compact and easy to install (about 50 per cent faster than conventional
soundproofing systems). It can be used in conjunction with standard wall systems using
a minimum of additional space to significantly reduce noise levels. Barrierboard is also
effectively used on ceilings. Barrierboard ceiling treatment comes in two sheet sizes
2700 x 1200 and 2400 x 1200. The sheets are resiliently mounted to the ceiling with furring
channels placed on the mounts, insulation fitted and then the Barrierboard installed.
The insulation will add an additional 4-5db improvement.
Barrierboard wall treatment also comes in two sheet sizes 2700 x 1200 and 2400 x 1200. It can
either be directly applied to the wall with adhesive and screws or furring channels placed
on the wall, insulation fitted and then the Barrierboard installed.
