Achieve indoor air quality with Mermet Australia

Indoor air is typically 2 to 5 times more polluted than outside air
and health risks associated with poor indoor air quality include asthma, sinusitis,
bronchitis and cancer, as well as possible reproductive and developmental problems.
The blinds in a room have an important role for the occupant's comfort, by controlling
glare and heat, but it is also essential that the level of VOC (volatile organic
compound) stays below a certain level.
Mermet, a world leader in the manufacture of solar protection fabrics for blinds,
recently received two certificates from the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute for
Mermet's PVC coated fibreglass fabrics.
These endorsements, achieved through third-party testing, mean that Mermet's intelligent
fabrics meet or exceed the field-validated standards for products and materials with
low chemical and particle emissions for indoor usage.
The first endorsement, GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certificate confirms Mermet's
environmental responsibility and indoor air quality achievements.
For the second endorsement, the window sunscreen fabrics met or exceeded the stricter
emission guidelines for GREENGUARD Children & Schools. These guidelines take into
consideration the heightened sensitivities of school populations.
Mermet fabrics have also been formally tested by an Australian third party testing
authority. The products were found to have VOC emissions of 0.05mg/m²/hr. These
levels are within the maximum allowable emissions of 0.5mg/m²/hr under the GBCA
standards.
