Tontine Insulation keeps the Ice Cool at Melbourne Ice House

tontine insulation at melbourne ice rink

We have supplied another iconic world class sports/entertainment venue at the Docklands precinct in Melbourne with Tontine insulation. The Ice House is what the multi purpose venue is known as, will become home to the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia which will locate its administration and operate its programs at the venue. The Ice House will host recreational ice skating, ice sports competitions as well as many other activities including roller skating, concerts, functions, exhibitions and theatre.

The Ice House contains two Olympic-sized (60m x 30m) ice rinks and has a seating capacity of 1000 seats. It will be open to the public for recreational skating in early 2010.

We become involved in the project when the contactor and builder preferred to use polyester for project rather than fibreglass insulation.

The insulation supplied for the project was Nova 75mm, Acoustisorb 2 50mm and R1.5 Thermal soundbatt. The contractor responsible for the plasterer's package is Kakosi constructions and builder involved is Hansen & Yuncken.
